James Charles Jerome Wells, commonly known as “Jerome”, was born in Ohio, raised in the rolling hills of Williamson, West Virginia. Jerome began his career in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. During this period, Jerome thrived in the areas of land navigation and communications and escalated to a Certified Air Borne and Air Assault Infantryman. Jerome also achieved the admirable recognition of Presidential Accommodation for Expert Marksmanship.

 

Jerome became a mechanical engineer in 1987 with Norfolk Southern and quickly matriculated through the ranks. Jerome traveled across multiple states ranging from northern to eastern and southern states. He achieved a national certification as an engineer trainer, engineer coach, and quality control facilitator. During this period, Jerome developed multiple lifelong relationships. He also realized that he was not fulfilling his life’s purpose of helping others in a greater way professionally, through professional counseling.

 

Jerome began his professional career by starting out in academia by obtaining an associate’s degree in English from Meridian Community College in Meridian, MS. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mississippi State, and establishing graduate studies at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, earning a Masters of Arts in Community and Agency Counseling, an Educational Specialist degree in Agency Administration, and currently earning a Doctorate of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision. He is now thriving towards completing doctoral studies in counselor education and supervision. Jerome has also accomplished educational esteems such as Dean’s List, President’s List, and Chi Sigma Iota National Honor Society.

 

Jerome began his professional journey as a case manager in the non- profit sector. He possessed a genuine awareness of client needs and ignited a passion to serve on even greater levels. Jerome progressed to the position of Residential Social Services Clinical Director at a residential mental health hospital. Jerome enjoys leading others as they grow as professionals and mentor them into leadership roles. He is able to develop and implement effective clinical standards that brings about lifelong change and healing for all patients.

 

Jerome is also the proud small business owner of Without Walls Counseling mental health agency. Jerome’s heart is planted in guiding others to heal from the root. Jerome enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also enjoys traveling and road trips on his Harley Davidson.
